This course provides you with the theoretical skill and the practical skill that you require to dive anywhere in the world. Your professional SSI instructor will help you through the learning process.

Each new skill gets you closer to the day you board our boat for your liveaboard dive trip.

Theory gives you the knowledge required to dive in open water conditions. This takes the form of classroom presentations and lectures by the instructor in the comfort of our new air-conditioned classrooms.

Confined water training takes place in our gas-heated pool at our state of the art diver training centre, during which time you will master the skills of diving.

Open water dives will be conducted from the safety of the Kangaroo Explorer - your floating hotel, while staying on the Great Barrier Reef.

At Cairns Dive Centre, the emphasis is on increased training in actual dive conditions. The basis of our training concept is thorough practice of scuba skills in the controlled environment of our new diver training centre. These skills combined with the understanding of safe diving practices and theory, prepare you for the ultimate Great Barrier Reef experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Academic and Pool training

9:00am Complimentary transfers from your Cairns city accommodation
9:15am Theory lectures
11:30am Lunch break – you have the opportunity to do the dive medical if you haven’t already done so. This is not included in the course price and medical fees are payable directly to the doctor
1:00pm Pool training
4:30pm Return to your Cairns city accommodation

Day 2: Academic and Pool training

7:45am Complimentary transfers from your Cairns city accommodation
8:15am Pool training
11:30am Lunch break
12:30pm Classroom lectures
4:30pm Return to your Cairns city accommodation

Day 3: Diving the Outer Great Barrier Reef

7:30am Boat briefing and theory exam
8:30am Depart Cairns onboard Sunkist for a fast transfer to the outer reef where you will be transferred to the Kangaroo Explorer. Once on the reef you will do your first 2 open water training dives

Day 4: More diving and return to Cairns.

After completing your last 2 open water training dives – you are now a certified diver! Now you get to put all your training to use and do your first dive as a certified diver. After lunch, you will board Sunkist for a fast transfer back to Cairns by 4:30pm.
