This course provides you with the theoretical skill and the practical skill that you require to dive anywhere in the world. Your professional SSI instructor will help you through the learning process.

Each new skill gets you closer to the day you board our boat for your liveaboard dive trip.

Theory gives you the knowledge required to dive in open water conditions. This takes the form of classroom presentations and lectures by the instructor in the comfort of our new air-conditioned classrooms.

Confined water training takes place in our gas-heated pool at our state of the art diver training centre, during which time you will master the skills of diving.

Open water dives will be conducted from the safety of the Kangaroo Explorer - your floating hotel, while staying on the Great Barrier Reef.

At Cairns Dive Centre, the emphasis is on increased training in actual dive conditions. The basis of our training concept is thorough practice of scuba skills in the controlled environment of our new diver training centre. These skills combined with the understanding of safe diving practices and theory, prepare you for the ultimate Great Barrier Reef experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Academic and Pool training

8.30 am Free pick-up from city accommodation
9.15 am Theory lectures
12.00 am Lunch break and medical examination
1.00 pm Swim test & Pool training
4.30 pm Return to your accommodation

Day 2: Academic and Pool training

8.00 am Pick-up from city accommodation
8.15 am Pool training
12.00 am  Lunch break
1.00 pm Theory lectures
4.30 pm Return to your accommodation

Day 3: Diving the Outer Great Barrier Reef

6.45 am  Pick-up from city accommodation
7.30 am transfer to the outer reef via Fitzroy Island
9.45 am  Arrival at the reef
11.30 am  Lunch
1.30 pm  1st training dive
2.30 pm Transfer to next dive site
4.00 pm 2nd training dive
6.00 pm Dinner

Day 4: Diving the Outer Great Barrier Reef

5.30 am Wake-up call
6.00 am 3rd training dive
7.00 am Breakfast
7.30 am  Transfer to next dive site
9.00 am 4th and final training dive
12.00 pm Lunch
2.30 pm Transfer to next dive site
4.00pm Pleasure Dive
6.00 pm Dinner Dive
7.00 pm Night Dive

Day 5: More diving and return to Cairns
